Rob Van Dam as X Division Champion. It doesn't sound so silly on paper, right? Quite the opposite, it sounds pretty damn (Dam?) cool. Why is it that everything about RVD is generally accompanied by the adjective 'cool' in a slightly wasted voice? Cool.

In reality, Rob Van Dam was X Division Champion only succeeded in exposing his deficiencies some 22 years into his career. RVD won the title from Zema Ion at Bound for Glory in 2012, cutting the legs out from one of the truly exciting young talents TNA had at the time.

RVD's reign lasted 137 days, but in 2012 it felt like another decision made by the company that only succeeded in pushing it back. Zema Ion, Sonjay Dutt, Kenny King, Joey Ryan and others could have gone a long way to recreating the glory of the X Division. As it was, RVD had a title run that didn't do anyone any favours.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
