As soon as The Great Khali debuted on WWE TV, the Internet was alight with stories of just how bad the New Japan alumnus (!) was. Many fans drew unfavorable comparisons between Khali and Giant Gonzales, and people could hardly fathom why the immobile big man was being brought in for a feud with The Undertaker.

Over the next year, Khali did little to dispel those notions. A brief WWE Championship feud with John Cena seemed to be the apex of his career - Cena managed to carry him to something watchable, and it looked like Khali could fade into a midcard role after that.

Not so fast. Just a month later, Edge suffered a torn pectoral muscle and was forced the vacate the World Heavyweight Championship, leading to a battle royal for the title. Khali, who had recently jumped to Smackdown, won by eliminating Batista and Kane, becoming the worst worker to ever hold a World championship in WWE.

His reign lasted for two months and saw him feud primarily with Batista, who was in no position to help bring out the best in Khali. Finally, Batista won the title at Unforgiven 2007, putting an end to the ill-advised venture.
