10 Worst Wrestling Name Changes
6. Primo And Epico - The Shining Stars
Like Joe Hennig, Primo and Epico Colon are yet more examples of wrestlers who could have benefited from using their prestigious family name right off the bat. Still, Primo and Epico weren't bad monikers to go by. The same cannot be said for the names that came after.
The first misstep with these two was when they were rebranded to play fighting Matadores. However, Los Matadores can get away here, as while the gimmick was terrible, this name was self-explanatory, and WWE at least had the decency to attempt to hide the cousins' identities. But, the same cannot be said for The Shining Stars.
This name (and gimmick in general) just didn't make sense. It centred on the pair urging people to visit their home county of Puerto Rico, calling it the "Shining Star of the Caribbean", but this played no part in their actual wrestling. Plus, the name itself was confusing. Were they the Shinning Stars? Was Puerto Rico the Shinning Star and they, were Puerto Rico?
The Shining Stars went down in infamy for being a terrible name and an awful creative decision, and although the pair were released in 2020, they at least went out sporting their family name.
