10 Worst Wrestling Name Changes
4. Colt Cabana - Scotty Goldman
Cabana is no stranger to using new names, as he's gone under multiple terrible monikers like Chris Guy, Punchline, Matt Classic and more. But when he was rebranded as Scotty Goldman in WWE, it felt like a real insult. Colt Cabana makes perfect sense as a moniker, as it's just about easy enough for fans to follow but presents something that's a little out of the ordinary, just like the performer himself.
This over-the-top and comic wrestler being named something as mundane and ordinary as Scotty Goldman was a big mistake, as it took away some of his unique energy. He sounded more like a pharmacy owner than a wrestler, and that's never a good sign.
It's no wonder his time in WWE is looked back on so poorly, as this weak name proved that creative wasn't going to take him in the right direction. To be fair, his awful booking was also a major damper on his WWE career, and a name change probably wouldn't have changed that, but the lack of effort put into his branding was a sad sign of the times.
