10 Worst WWE Champions Of Each Of The Past 10 Years

4. Rey Mysterio (2011)

Rey Mysterio Wwe Title

Under normal circumstances, it would have been nice to see Rey Mysterio win the WWE Title. The summer months of 2011 were anything but normal however, and that's why he's on this list. Amidst the excitement surrounding CM Punk's storyline departure from WWE following Money In The Bank, Rey experienced a pointless reign.

Once COO Triple H announced Rey (who had just beaten The Miz in a tournament final to crown a new champ) would defend his title against John Cena later that same evening, the writing was on the wall.

Cena toppled Mysterio to become interim WWE Champion and resumed his feud with Punk at SummerSlam as though the masked man's reign hadn't even happened. It was stupid to involve Rey, pen his first, crowd-popping WWE Title win on Raw and then pull the proverbial rug out from underneath him a few hours later all so the Cena vs. Punk resumption had a little more spice.

All focus should have been on Punk's decision to leave WWE high and dry without the top championship, not on determining a stand-in champion who might face him at SummerSlam.
