Between 1978 and 1983, squeaky clean babyface Bob Backlund ruled the roost as WWE Champion, with his 2,135-day reign still the second-longest in WWE historyBacklund is actually a two-time champ, though, so what about his second reign?

Let's just say there's a reason nobody talks about that one.

At Survivor Series 1994, at the age of 45 - which was a lot older back then than it is now - Backlund defeated champion Bret Hart after his devious brother Owen threw in the towel on his behalf. Over 16 years on from his first title win, Bob was back(lund) and he was here to sta- oh wait, he's just lost the title to Diesel.

Mr. Backlund dropped the belt to Big Daddy Cool just three days later, at an non-televised house show in Madison Square Garden no less. This made it crystal clear that the future presidential candidate had only won the title so that Diesel didn't have to dethrone a babyface to get his reign underway.

This was hardly the most respectful treatment of a man who had once carried the entire promotion on his shoulders.
