10 Worst WWE Draft Selections Ever
8. Pick 4, 2009 (Raw): Matt Hardy
By the time he was selected to swap brands on 13 April, Matt Hardy was red hot. WWE was one week removed from WrestleMania XXV, where Matt was victorious in a vicious match against brother Jeff Hardy, a rivalry that single-handedly springboarded Matt on par with his brother.
It goes without saying that Matt Hardy was in the best position of his career to break out as a singles Superstar on Raw and maybe even win a major championship. Two weeks after being drafted, Hardy broke his hand in an "I Quit" match against Jeff at Backlash. Although he continued to wrestle with a cast, Hardy could not find any form of noteworthy success.
To make matters worse, Hardy suffered a potentially life-threatening injury when his intestines "exploded" through his abdominal wall during a match. Hardy had previously suffered a small tear in his abdominal muscle two years previous, but the injury was deemed to not be serious.
On 29 June, Hardy was traded back to SmackDown and underwent surgery on 2 July. Upon returning to Raw, Hardy would become a fan favourite again, essentially throwing the last year's developments out the window - along with Hardy's chances of being a main event-standard performer in WWE.
