Baron Corbin is really finding his footing as SmackDown’s resident bully at the moment, but he, like so many of his peers, had a torrid shortly after arrival. He debuted strongly by winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32, and while putting him in a feud with upper-midcard lifer Dolph Ziggler seemed like a great way to establish him, that’s not how things panned out.

This was a ghastly feud. It started on a high note with Corbin absolutely destroying Ziggler after WrestleMania, but things never escalated beyond that point. In fact, Corbin and Ziggler’s first interaction was as heated as this feud got. The rivalry got to a point where the duo were wrestling each other in lifeless singles matches seemingly on a weekly basis, trading wins back and forth, with neither man going anywhere.

Corbin lost the first PPV match at Payback, but that wasn’t the end. This feud just kept going and going and going, and by the end, most fans had stopped paying attention. The duo eventually settled their beef when Corbin won at Money In The Bank, but there was absolutely no need for this drudgery to be stretched-out over three PPV cycles. It set Corbin’s main roster run off to an incredibly cold start, and he’s still recovering from it.
