Bland like Roman Reigns vs. Jinder Mahal most certainly was.

The post-WWE Title decline of Jinder has been mulled over elsewhere, and this was part of it. In Mahal, WWE clearly believed they had a heel people disliked enough that they'd (shock, horror) cheer Reigns. Nobody will be surprised to learn that didn't happen. Rather than boo Jinder, fans sat on their hands and wondered when the pain would stop.

The answer? Money In The Bank. There, Roman soundly thumped 'The Modern-Day Maharaja' and moved on to call Bobby Lashley 'Bob' like it was 2014 and he was cracking jokes again. Actually, maybe that should've been here instead. No, at least Lashley vs. Reigns was for something. It decided who'd face Brock Lesnar.

Meanwhile, Jinder vs. Reigns happened because there was nothing else to do and WWE needed to fill air time. No amount of ploughing through fake walls, pretence that Mahal was still a top guy or middle of the road pay-per-view matches could mask that.
