10 Worst WWE Intercontinental Title Matches This Decade
3. Ryback Vs. Dolph Ziggler Vs. King Barrett Vs. Mark Henry Vs. R-Truth Vs. Sheamus, Elimination Chamber 2015
This was something of an incrimination of WWE's pre-NXT midcard generation.
Afforded a unique opportunity to impress top brass - their like is largely fodder in proper Chamber matches - this massively botched effort is spared only by December To Dismember's Extreme Elimination Chamber bout as the worst in the genre's canon.
It all fell apart irrevocably when Henry's pod was opened prematurely as a result of a mistimed tackle by Barrett on Ziggler. Entering the match early, Henry quickly eradicated the respect he'd gained in some circles for his work in 2011 and 2013 by not having the faintest idea of how to improvise a revised set of sequences.
Henry, as the veteran, should have been responsible for dictating the pace. Instead, he stood there helplessly, diminishing his tough guy aura in the process. He should have simply cut through the field in a lethal show of force, subtly giving directions as he did so, but he instead handed over to Dolph Ziggler.
To be fair to Dolph, several years Henry's junior, Chamber matches are planned meticulously, and it must have been dauntingly difficult to devise a succession of new spots in a multi-man match.
That being said, the lack of subtlety with which he barked out orders at a standstill was as much a death knell for the match as Henry's early arrival into it.
