10 Worst WWE Money In The Bank Cash-Ins

2. Damien Sandow (Raw, 28 October 2013)

Poor Sandow. For a self-professed intellectual saviour, trying to cash-in on World Heavyweight Champion John Cena mid-promo was tantamount to just relieving himself into the briefcase and tossing it into the nearest woodchipper while standing right in front of it.

In a scenario that we'd seen repeated in similar circumstances with Otis this year, and a classic example of WWE's long-term booking being as reliable as a toaster made from liquorice, Sandow was given the briefcase to appease fans that were starting to get behind him, and then ran out of ideas for what to actually do with him.

This ranks higher than Swagger not only for the failure but because it was such a waste of potential. Sandow had yet to taste gold in the company at the time of his briefcase win; unlike Swagger, however, Sandow had a significant character and plenty of backing from the fans to reach that next level. He may have been given the opportunity a couple of years too soon, and WWE not being ready to pull the trigger was a blow he never recovered from, despite taking material like being The Miz' stunt double and getting it more over than anything else on WWE programming at that time.
