5. Repo Man

Demolition have gone down as one of the all-time great WWE double acts, holding the company's tag team titles on three separate occasions during the late 1980s (on one occasion, for more nearly 500 days).

But it's probably also fair to say that they were better than the sum of their parts, evidence for which could be seen in 1991 when, following their abrupt dissolution, Smash attempted to go it alone, repackaged as Repo Man.

We're not exactly sure what the origin story here was, but the bare facts are that he wore a Zorro mask, carried round a rope with a hook on the end, and got his kicks out of repossessing various items belonging to his opponents.

Reading between the lines, it's likely that he was supposed to have been some sort of debt collector who was fired from his job for being a little too hands-on, and then took up professional wrestling as a way to channel his innate desire to... repossess things. Pretty weird, if so.
