The December to Dismember 2006 PPV is without question one of the worst wrestling PPVs of all time. A PPV that is infamous for all the wrong reasons, and has become synonymous for everything wrong with this time period in WWE.

Going into the show, only two matches were announced prior. The Extreme Elimination Chamber match for the ECW Title and The Hardy Boyz v MnM. The ECW Title match booking would ultimately lead to the WWE departure of Paul Heyman after he was virtually blamed for the failure of the event. The match itself featured Bobby Lashley winning the ECW Title. This despite the crowd, Heyman and the then-ECW Champion The Big Show all wanting CM Punk to win the match. Even before the match began, it was doomed to fail. WWE decided to take out Sabu and place Hardcore Holly in the match instead, showing just how out of touch their idea of an ECW PPV truly was.

The undercard of the event was put together on the day of the PPV which unfortunately led to some incredibly poor matches being on the card. Matches such as Balls Mahoney v Matt Striker, Davari v Tommy Dreamer and Ariel and Kevin Thorn v Kelly Kelly and Mike Knox were all absolutely dreadful.

The PPV became the least purchased WWE PPV of all time and the PPV would become well establisged for being one of the biggest trainwrecks in WWE history.
