10 Worst WWE PPV Endings Ever

3. WrestleMania IX

As bad as the ending of WrestleMania XXVII was, at least it didn't end with The Rock beating Miz for the WWE Championship in a matter of seconds. Rewind 18 years and that is exactly what we got, as Hulk Hogan brought history's worst WrestleMania to an end by beating Yokozuna and avenging Bret Hart's salty eyes in the process.

The initial dirty finish of the main event was bad enough. Why not just have Yokozuna beat Bret cleanly? The company was clearly all-in on Yoko, and having him decisively defeat the brave fighting champion in the main event would have been extremely effective in establishing the big man as the new number one heel in the company. He didn't need Mr Fuji and a handful of salt to get the job done.

He certainly didn't need to immediately drop the belt to a black-eyed Hogan after the match. A new generation of stars had to play second fiddle to a past-his-best hero, another depressing harbinger of the WWE we have come to put up with in the modern age.

This remains the worst WrestleMania ending of all time.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
