10 Worst WWE PPV Matches Of 2019 (So Far)
4. Lars Sullivan vs. Lucha House Party (Super ShowDown)
Squashes, when booked correctly, can be a vital tool in the growth of new monsters. They worked for Sid Vicious way back when, the same strategy worked for Goldberg in the late-90s and it definitely took Braun Strowman to a new level from 2016 onwards. It's perplexing then why WWE felt Lars Sullivan needed to struggle in Saudi Arabia.
He'd already hammered the Lucha House Party on several occasions with ease, so it didn't make sense that big Lars was suddenly overwhelmed by their numbers advantage. The whole thing was a catastrophe; at over five minutes, it lasted too long to be a squash, and the disqualification result helped nobody.
This was 50/50 booking at its worst. When a match doesn't enhance the careers of anyone involved at all, it's pointless. When it takes place on a card few demanded anyway and plays before an unenthusiastic crowd who only want to see the top stars, things are even worse.
Lars vs. Lucha was poorly handled, to say the least.
