10 Worst WWE PPV Matches Of 2019 (So Far)
3. Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin (Stomping Grounds)
Before going any further, this writer (who may or may not be hated already for including AJ Styles vs. Daniel Bryan) has another bold admission to make. He actually kinda' likes Baron Corbin, and he has done since the guy was on NXT. So, onto Stomping Grounds then, and Corbin's second consecutive crack at Seth Rollins' Universal Title on pay-per-view.
Therein lies the problem here.
The first at Super ShowDown felt like a 'B' level match for Seth, and that same atmosphere carried over into last Sunday. Even with the addition of Lacey Evans as special guest ref to stack the odds in Baron's favour, things fell flat. Again, length was an issue, but so was a prolonged heat section that evaporated concern from the audience instead of adding it.
Although Rollins and Corbin can only be blamed for trying to tell a story, they brought their slow-paced narrative to the main event slot when it needed urgency. Aside from the ending bit with Becky Lynch, this was skippable stuff.
