Why It Sucked Another Smackdown effort form 2004, that years Great American Bash has went down in infamy as one of the crappest WWE cards ever. Featuring some utterly worthless matches on the undercard, a very unpopular WWE Title change and one of the weirdest main events ever, this one caused some to seriously reconsider whether the brand split was such a good idea or not. Okay, so the undercard. Luther Reigns versus Charlie Haas...Kenzo Suzuki versus Billy Gunn...Sable versus Torrie Wilson...Mordecai versus Hardcore Holly...yup, you'd be pretty gutted if you saw that lineup at a house show, wouldn't you? But being asked to spend your hard-earned money on it? No wonder this event did a woeful buyrate! Throw in JBL dethroning the super-over Eddie Guerrero and becoming WWE Champion and the Undertaker/Paul Bearer nonsense in the main event and, well, yeah, you've got a really poor show on your hands. Yes, JBL and Eddie Guerrero's Bullrope Match was inventive and exciting, but the result put a black mark on the bout. There was nothing good about the 'Concrete Crypt' main event, which saw The Undertaker battling the Dudley Boys in a lethargic handicap match, all while Paul Bearer was sitting in a box and being threatened death by cement. You couldn't help but roll your eyes. Was this 1994 or 2004? Did Anything Redeem It? The WWE Title match is good, true, and Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero had a tidy Cruiserweight Title match. Not good enough to elevate the show, though. The 238k order number said it all.
