10 Worst WWE Raw Main Events Ever

8. The Undertaker Vs. Damien Demento - 11 Jan. 1993

Does it get a pass for being the main event of the very first episode? Does it get a pass for taking place in 1993? Does it get a pass for featuring an all-time bad worker?

The answer to all the above 'no', although it does feel somewhat apt that the very first Monday Night RAW main event was a total stinker. The Undertaker wasn't at his best in 1993, to say the least. He was still wildly popular as a babyface but his size forced him into a succession of feuds against bigger men, none of whom were anywhere near as mobile as 'Taker. That meant feuds with Kamala and Giant Gonzalez. As an aside, 'Taker said that working with the latter took 'years' off his career, which is impressive considering the 30 years the Deadman has had in WWE.

Anyway, Damien Demento. Hailing from 'the outer reaches of your mind', Demento was a forgettable early-'90s performer with great size, wacky hair and not a lot else, although that was pretty much all you needed to get a shot in WWE. 'Taker vs. Demento was the very first RAW main event, a harbinger of things to come, a plodding match between two big lumps. Polite applause is the best that the crowd can muster.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
