10 Worst WWE Roads To WWE WrestleMania

Much like The Miz after him, Chris Jericho in 2002 was a midcard talent struggling for acceptance in his new role as a headliner proper. And, like The Miz, he was relegated to supporting player in his first - and thus far only - WrestleMania main event. The real crux of the issue was Trips' divorce with Stephanie McMahon. Jericho, meanwhile, was given custody of the family dog, Lucy.
Channelling the Big Boss Man and the worst angle of 1999, Jericho tied the poor thing to a limousine and had the chauffeur drive away with it. In retaliation, Triple H entered the arena and attempted to attack - Stephanie McMahon! Chris Jericho could have been Christian. He could have been Booker T. He could have been any other midcard talent because he was a transitional champion built (and that is being generous) purely to crown Triple H as the company's number one babyface. And look how that turned out.
The arrival of the nWo was similarly disastrous. Their debut was incredibly low-key, which the WWF then compensated for by tilting the fading star vehicle into hyperdrive. Cinder blocks, netguns, semi-trucks - no over-the-top nonsense could disguise that they were in fact the poison they were marketed it as.
As good as the Icon vs. Icon match was, Hall and Nash had faded and faded badly. It showed in their limited contributions.
