The 2000 Royal Rumble was an excellent pay-per-view. The undercard was full of fun matches, with Triple H and Cactus Jack putting on a career-making brawl for the WWF Championship. The Royal Rumble was the main event however, and whilst the line-up wasn't as stacked as previous years, there were still plenty of big hitters in the match. It was fairly clear that only The Rock and Big Show could win it, but tell that to 15 year old John.

The phrase 'big hitter' is not one that would ever be used to describe X-Pac, the man who entered the Royal Rumble last on that night in Madison Square Garden 17 years ago. Pac was pretty much handed the number 30 spot thanks to his relationship with the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, and whilst it helped him make the final four, it didn't get much better than that.

X-Pac actually managed to get eliminated twice in his three and a half minutes in the match, although the referees didn't see the first time. The first time was absolutely brutal too, X-Pac being hurled over the top by The Rock, landing square on his back.

He did manage to eliminate Kane, but was soon vanquished once again by Big Show

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
