A rumoured name for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame (in a roundabout way), Fred Ottman's career was full of memorable moments, by which I mean he was The Shockmaster. He was also a one-time WWF Tag Team Champion as part of The Natural Disasters (alongside Earthquake), but before all of that he was a mid-level babyface in the WWF by the name of Tugboat, whose only real personality traits were 'sailor' and 'friend of Hulk Hogan'.

Tugboat (or 'toot-toot', as Roddy Piper and Gorilla Monsoon referred to him on commentary) was the number 30 entrant in the 1991 Royal Rumble, and provided the live audience with a diet version of Rey Mysterio entering last in 2015. The number 18 entrant had no-showed the match, and whilst it became increasingly clear that it was 'Macho King' Randy Savage, the viewers could be forgiven for holding out hope.

That hope was extinguished in a blur of red and white stripes, as Tugger made his way to the ring to the excitement of nobody in particular. He didn't manage to do too much in the two and a half minutes he spent in the ring either, making the mistake of attacking his buddy Hogan (it's every man for himself, don't you know!) and getting tossed as a result.

The only thing Tugboat eliminated in the 1991 Royal Rumble was the hope of fans hoping to see Savage.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
