10 Worst WWE Royal Rumble Winners Ever
5. Triple H (2016)
Honestly, the idea of WWE running a Rumble match to determine a world champion is an exciting change of pace when it's done right (looking at you, 1992). The crowd in attendance get to watch as someone's dreams are realised instantly, no title shot in three months, no potential to screw away that shot before WrestleMania.
When a Rumble is set up to blatantly highlight just two men, however, fans pick up on it. Such was the case in 2016 when the still supposed-to-be babyface Roman Reigns was made to defend his title from the number one slot by the evil, tiresome Authority, and you just knew the 'surprise' was coming as the clock counted down to the final entrant.
Provided you didn't skip entry #8, you can guess what happened next. Reigns made it to end (boo), was eliminated by entry number 30, Triple H (the supposed heel who was cheered to high heaven, yay?), who dropped the belt back to Roman in one of the worst-received WrestleMania main events in recent memory. Sigh.
One last point, which is totally not Roman's fault, but AJ Styles debuted here, and all we got watching at home was Reigns pulling his best confused stoner face.
