10 Worst WWE Royal Rumble Winners Ever

4. Hulk Hogan (1991)

Hogan winning the Rumble for the second year in a row didn't seem like the worst call in the world at the time. He was still a huge name at the turn of the 1990s but, as we have seen frequently throughout WWE's history, WWE went with the proven star power that was starting to wane over potential future champions.

If this match had played out 20 years later, Mr Perfect would have played the Daniel Bryan role, and Hogan would still be Hulk Hogan, the established guy trying to cling to his main event status at 57. Perfect would be retired by the end of the year due to a ruinous back injury (not that WWE knew at the time), but even giving him a Royal Rumble win and a short run with the world title would have been no less than the great man deserved.

As time goes on, and more stories are told about The Hulkster's backstage pull, his remarkable accomplishments taste a little bit bitter. He would be gone from WWE two years after this event, having passed the torch to a total of zero Superstars coming up behind him on his way out.
