Crazy to think that WWE has an issue making new stars, right? April 2012 saw the 'legends' trotted out once more, and the whole thing somehow ended with 'Mean' Gene Okerlund getting a win over Daniel Bryan and Alberto Del Rio in the main event. Okay, technically it was Sheamus that did all the work and picked up the pin, but the point stands. If we remove 'Mean' Gene from the match, we're left with Sheamus beating two young heels in a handicap match.

By default, this match deserves a place in any list of 'worst' things in SmackDown history. Don't get me wrong, 'Mean' Gene was just about as legendary as it got, but his work was backstage or with a microphone, not in between the ropes. That a roster of old veterans distracted Bryan long enough for Sheamus to hit a Brogue kick is simply icing on this particularly rotten cake.

Looking back, it is incredible that Daniel Bryan got over to the level he did, when one considers the mountain of crap that he had to go through to get there. As for Okerlund, he passed away in 2019, shuffling off this mortal coil with a 100% win record inside the ring (3-0, if you're wondering).
