10 Worst WWE SummerSlam Main Events Ever

1. 2-On-3 Handicap Match (1991)

By 1991, the WWF had panicked and brought Hulk Hogan back into the main event picture. The Ultimate Warrior hadn't really worked out as his replacement, and The Hulkster was badly needed back in the frame. At SummerSlam 1991, Warrior and Hogan would team up, but unfortunately, the former came across as little more than back up for the latter. Worse yet, the actual match itself was terrible. Technically, SummerSlam '91 was 'headlined' by the wedding between Randy Savage and Miss. Elizabeth, but that obviously wasn't a match, so this 2-On-3 Handicap stinker takes centre stage. Sid Justice was the Special Guest Referee, but the main reason for the bout being so horrendous was due to who was chosen as Hogan and Warrior's rivals. Sgt. Slaughter, Colonel Mustafa (The Iron Sheik) and General Adnan made up the heel squadron. Of the trio, Slaughter was the one with the most work-rate at the time, which should give some indication as to how much action fans were in store for. Hogan and Warrior emerged as victors, but the 12 minute match felt like it had lasted for hours, and it was a wholly sub-par main event.
