10 Worst WWE Survivor Series Moments Ever

6. Alliance Storyline Limps Out (2001)

Taken as a whole, the 'Alliance' angle that dominated 2001 was a miserable failure. The story should have been fool proof for the WWF, but a combination of things worked against them. Primarily, the promotion just didn't feel they had the star power to present the WCW/ECW squad as an equal to the WWF side. That's why the likes of Kurt Angle and even Steve Austin were moved over to the Alliance.

This proved to be a mistake, because Austin was associated more heavily with the the WWF than either WCW or ECW. He had of course spent time in those companies, but fans viewed him as a 'WWF guy' by 2001. Survivor Series 2001 was set to be the ending point of the story, one that had already started to drag on. The WCW/ECW crew had already won at the Invasion pay-per-view in July, and nothing about the company had really been affected. It was difficult for fans to believe things could be different after Survivor Series, making this feel like a rehash of sorts.

In the end, the WCW vs. WWF war came down to a battle between The Rock and Steve Austin, the biggest stars of the 'Attitude Era'. The angle had flopped tremendously, and even the WWF's most reliable names couldn't save it.
