10 Worst WWE Title Challengers
4. R-Truth
Early 2011 saw something of a dearth of WWE Title challengers. It
also saw the start of an influx of part-timers in top-of-the-card positions at
WrestleMania, in what may or may not be a coincidence...
Irrespective of that, what it did mean was that R-Truth, of all people, found himself in with a shot at the gold at June’s Capitol Punishment PPV.
As in, the same R-Truth who would later go on to mistake Royal Rumbles for Ladder matches, and the same R-Truth who today is spending more time in the ring playing Pokemon Go than he is in challenging for honours.
Point being, R-Truth’s name isn’t the first you’d expect to see in line for a WWE Title shot.
Now he was fairly hot at the time, and his Little Jimmy shtick had seen him rise to something resembling prominence, but the fact that after failing to take John Cena's title at the PPV, he’s since faded far from the title scene, suggests that maybe this wasn’t the greatest idea in the first place.
Again, not necessarily a knock on the guy personally, but his character's hardly been portrayed as that of a WWE Champion.
