10 Worst WWE Transformations In Recent Memory
6. Erick Rowan
WWE rightly copped a lot of criticism for its Black Wednesday mass releases during the height of 2020’s COVID-19 outbreak, and these shone a bright light on many instances of torrid booking for some of the let go stars. One such example was Erick Rowan.
The heavyweight was a solid asset during his time with WWE, very fit to fill a role as tag team or stable heavy, as proven by his time in the Wyatt Family. Whilst not the most gifted in-ring performer, he understood the dynamic of being a tag team powerhouse and his cracking rivalry with The Usos alongside the late great Luke Harper in 2014 is impressive proof of this. But he struggled when facing the challenges of becoming a singles star. What didn’t help his cause was being tasked with transforming an atrocious gimmick into even passable television during his final run before being sent packing.
The gimmick in question? Carrying round an over-sized cage, which after months on end was revealed to be housing a hilariously terrible toy spider. It was clear Rowan seemed to be tiring of his creative direction in the company and after starring in endless half-witted weekly segments, where fans were forced to question what was inside the cage, he was future endeavoured.
From Bludgeon Brother to big oaf with spider. What a disaster.
