Without picking on Jack Swagger, WWE have placed the man in some challenging scenarios over the years. In many ways, they've actually made it harder for the guy to make a connection with fans, chiefly because his title reigns are usually short and pointless in the long run.

January, 2012 featured another of these useless title stints. Zack Ryder had been able to get himself over on social media, something that resonated at WWE events. Live audiences just adored the guy, often chanting for him in segments he wasn't even involved in. Caving to this pressure, WWE booked Ryder to become United States Champion at TLC 2011.

That pay-per-view took place on 18 December 2011. Mere weeks later, Ryder was beaten by Swagger in throwaway fashion on Monday Night Raw. The 16 January broadcast featured a short match between both men, with Swagger coming out on top and bagging the strap.

Yet again, this was a match result few had clamoured for. Worse, the actual action itself badly let Ryder down. He looked like a complete loser.
