A quick glance at that match graphic for the Women's Title match between Melina and Ashley Massaro at WrestleMania 23 makes it clear WWE weren't interested in a women's revolution back in 2007. This was full-on Diva era, and the three-minute match between both bombed.

Massaro, as much as she tried, would never get to grips with the fundamentals of pro wrestling. Melina, though slightly better even in 2007, was not the ideal person to carry her. Worse, both women were handed the death spot on the card and found their match sandwiched between Vince McMahon getting his head shaved and the John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels main event.

They had zero chance of capturing the live crowd's imagination there.

This is the kind of Women's Title match WWE would probably rather fans forgot about. It was short enough to be inoffensive, and yet Massaro somehow managed to botch her way through the thing. Melina deserved better than this.
