10 Worst WWE Wrestlers Of 2016

4. The Ascension

The Ascension might be the longest-reigning NXT Tag Team Champions of all-time, but their 364-day run with the gold was a tedious mess of squash matches and ironic crowd chants. Still, it gave Konnor and Viktor a solid selling point upon hitting the main roster, but they’ve never been able to get over, and have looked worse than ever in 2016.

Viktor’s a reasonably capable worker, but Konnor is one of the most awkward big men in the company. Slow, lumbering, and clumsy, he brings very little to the table, and the team are going nowhere on SmackDown. It likely doesn’t help that Konnor was struck down by a Wellness Policy violation in April, but regardless, The Ascension are a bog standard tag team with little to no charisma, and a failed attempt at reviving the popular “power & paint” teams of the ‘80s and ‘90s.

They’ve got a fearsome entrance theme, but that’s about it. Nothing about The Ascension works, from their look to their wrestling style, and they’re doomed on SmackDown. Perhaps they’d have been more successful in an era without such an emphasis on workrate, but for now, The Ascension are comfortably the worst tag team in WWE today.
