10 WrestleMania Main Events That Nobody Wanted To See
5. Sid vs. The Undertaker - WrestleMania 13
Sid has the distinction of headlining two Wrestlemanias and stinking up the joint at both. He crapped the bed against Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania VII and literally crapped himself at Wrestlemania 13 (which we will get to in a moment). The 13th edition of Wrestlemania also has the honor of having the lowest buyrate in the company's history. Only 237,000 fans bought Wrestlemania 13, a terrifying number considering that anything under a million buys is considered a failure today. Headlining the lowest-bought Wrestlemania of all-time was Sid vs. The Undertaker for the WWF title. Sid had recently defeated Bret Hart for the world title on Raw and the Undertaker was named number one contender because, hey, why not? McMahon briefly flirted with the idea of changing the title again to make Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin the main event and, in retrospect, he probably wishes that he did. However, Taker vs. Sid remained the final match and the results were not pretty. In an effort to get heat on the match, Shawn Michaels provided guest commentary for the match and Bret Hart interfered as well. However, their rivalry far overshadowed anything that Sid and the Undertaker attempted to do. The two big men lumbered around the ring for what seemed like hours, doing nothing exciting and killing the crowd dead. As for the "crapping himself" story, urban legend states that Sid actually had an accident in his pants during the match. Certainly, you could argue that there is evidence on his trunks of a "I should have went the bathroom before this match" situation, but there has never been concrete confirmation by either guy. In any event, Undertaker vs. Sid may have been the first time Taker won the WWF title but, as a main event, it was crap.
