9. Bob Backlund vs. Razor Ramon (WrestleMania IX)
Has there ever been a wrestler that looks more out of place than Bob Backlund did in the garish, colourful world of the WWF in 1993? The promotion was starting to go through a noticeable shift in direction, one which would shortly kick fully into gear once Hulk Hogan departed the promotion in June. At WrestleMania IX, Hulk would leave with the belt, but another former champion would suck the life out of the live crowd. Backlund's pasty white skin and goody-two-shoes mentality clearly alienated a lot of people at 'Mania IX, who didn't seem too interested in his match with Razor Ramon. For his part, Razor was starting to hear some cheers from fans, who had been enthused by his work opposite the likes of Bret Hart since his debut the previous year. Due to time constraints, Razor vs. Backlund was cut short, only lasting around 4 minutes. Worse yet, fans seems bored throughout the match, and obviously didn't take Bob very seriously at all. It's unbelievable that Backlund would be able to repackage himself going forward, apparently losing his mind, because he looked dead in the water as a character here.
