8. Bruiser Brody Was Sent To Sabotage WrestleMania
If WrestleMania failed, it could have been the end of the WWF and Vince McMahon, but it if it succeeded, it spelled doom for almost every other wrestling promoter in the country. McMahon and the WWF were ready to take America by storm with their national expansion, and if the other territories didnt do something about it, theyd soon find themselves out of a job. According to numerous reports, the legendary Bruiser Brody was offered a large sum of money to interfere in the main event of WrestleMania I and legitimately attack the competitors, specifically Mr. T. Standing at way over 6 feet tall, Brody was a legitimate tough guy, and could have caused some real damage if he chose to, but luckily he turned down the offer. Looking back, it seems like an ill-thought out plan to send someone to attack Mr. T at WrestleMania, because if anything, that would just draw more eyes to WWF. By all accounts, despite his in-ring persona, Brody was one of the nicest people in wrestling and his murder at the hands of Invader #1 while working in Puerto Rico is one of the industrys biggest tragedies.
