10 Wrestler Deaths WWE Didn't Acknowledge

1. Umaga, 2009

Umaga is part of wrestling royalty, a member of the Anoa'i family which ranks The Rock, Yokozuna, Rikishi, Roman Reigns and The Usos as members. WWE however turned a blind eye to his death which tragically happened as a result of toxic consumption of drugs in 2009. Real name Eddie Fatu, he died aged just 36. For WWE not to offer any reference to Umaga's passing on their flagship tv show Monay Night Raw was truly shocking. Such was the level of fan outrage it even made the national news in the UK at the Sun newspaper. This was a man who had gave years of excellent work to the WWE, he had family in the company, he wrestled in the mega-drawing 'battle of the billionaires' main event at WrestleMania 23. There's really no good explanation as to why they decided not to pay tribute with a graphic or video. He had been one of the very biggest stars of the 2005 to 2008 WWE run. He had barely been gone a year (released in 2008 for refusing to enter rehab), so fans still held him in the regard of being a WWE guy. Maybe the reason WWE didn't want to acknowledge the death was the relatively young age and negative association of WWE wrestlers dying young Whatever WWE's reason in not acknowledging wrestler deaths, there really isn't a good one, the right thing to do would be always to make a note of respect for those who gave their life to pro wrestling.
