10 Wrestlers At Risk Of Missing Out On The WrestleMania 38 Card
4. Sheamus
Right now Sheamus and Ridge Holland could be picking up wins and establishing themselves as a unit ahead of a ‘Mania tag match. Instead, tension is being teased between the veteran and the rookie, with Holland practically tripping over himself as the storyline paints him as a handicap to the Irishman.
It’s typical of WWE to rush tag teams into struggles to co-exist without giving you the time or a reason to invest in the characters first. With over a month left until The Show Of Shows, this tandem is racing through story beats and racing towards a break up.
It all screams TV blowoff, and that might be for the best. Holland is better than the creative direction makes him look, but he’s still green and can get his chance to shine in the future. The pair’s storyline doesn’t feel 'Mania-worthy, especially as it feels too close to the current dynamic between the Mysterios over on Raw.
That’s okay, not every feud needs to make it to the biggest show of the year. There’s no shame in wrapping this one up on SmackDown. The only trouble is, there won’t be long to establish anything new for “The Great White” afterwards.
