10 Wrestlers Currently Out Injured (And When They Might Return)
2. Big E
Big E began 2022 as WWE Champion, only to lose the belt just a few hours later to Brock Lesnar. Sadly, this was not the worst thing to happen to E before the calendar was changed.
On the March 11th episode of SmackDown, Big E took an overhead belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland. For whatever reason, he didn't rotate far enough and landed right on the top of his head. He was then stretchered out of the arena.
The botched suplex broke two vertebrae in Big E's neck, leaving him needing a neck brace. Thankfully (which feels like a weird word to use in this context), the former champion did not suffer any spinal damage, meaning that he would not be needing surgery.
Presumably because he's been eating his Booty-Os, the former powerlifter has been excelling in his recovery. He stated in an interview in August that he is now cleared to live "a normal life", but he is still waiting to be told whether or not he can return to the ring.
If he gets the all-clear, expect E to be back any time between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania next year and get a huge pop from the crowd whenever he does so.
