10 Wrestlers Fans Most Want To See In WWE's UK Tournament

2. Wade Barrett

If WWE really want to draw as much attention to their UK Title as possible, it isn’t enough to just cram the inaugural tournament with the independent circuit’s biggest and brightest. This competition is going to need some good old-fashioned star quality to push it over the top, and nobody would bring more of this to the table than Wade Barrett.

Sure, Barrett only left WWE back in April, and it looks like he’s firmly focused on his acting career at the moment, but he’d make an excellent addition. Barrett looked like a future main eventer early in his WWE career, and while this obviously never panned out, he was always held in high regard by the fans. Whether working as the Nexus’ leader or the king of Bad News, Barrett remained a popular figure until his disappointing departure.

He left the business through dissatisfaction with his character’s creative direction, particularly following his King of the Ring victory. A starring role in the year’s biggest tournament might just be enough to coax him back into action, even if it’s just a temporary arrangement.

Barrett would bring a big audience, and his reputation would be a great asset in putting a younger, lesser known wrestler over. Skill-wise, Barrett is a great brawler and he always carried himself like a superstar. If it weren’t for a handful of bad booking decisions and unfortunate injuries, he’d be one of WWE’s biggest stars right now.
