Kamala was a top monster heel and legitimately struck fear into wrestling fans during an era when the pro wrestling curtain was only partially pulled back. The Ugandan Giant feuded with some of the biggest wrestling names of the 1980s including Hulk Hogan, Jerry the King Lawler, and The Von Erich Family. He was also one of the select few to bodyslam Andre the Giant.

During his first 1980s WWE run, Kamala was a top challenger for Hogan’s WWE Championship and also formed a tag team with Wild Samoan Sika. He impressed fans with his agility for such a big man. Despite being a heel, fans would often cheer when he would climb to the top turnbuckle for the big splash.

Kamala returned to WWE in 1992 for a feud with The Undertaker that culminated in him losing the first televised casket match at the 1992 Survivor Series. There is no doubt that the character is outdated but it should not be held against him. WWE should still induct The Ugandan Giant Kamala into the WWE Hall of Fame.
