10 Wrestlers Having An Incredible 2022

2. MJF

MJF’s onscreen character is the guy who wrestles on TV as infrequently as possible. He’d rather save himself for the PPV and put up whatever ever obstacles he can for his babyface rivals in the mean time. His whole ethos is one of minimum effort for maximum reward. That being the case, if anyone in wrestling is living the gimmick these past few months it’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

Starting the year entrenched in AEW’s hottest feud, “The Salt Of The Earth" became the first wrestler to beat CM Punk in a televised match since 2014. That feud transitioned neatly into another white hot programme, this time with Wardlow. Unlike most of this list however, MJF seemingly wasn’t enjoying himself.

Already on the form of his life and having largely silenced any lingering doubts about his in-ring abilities, MJF only became hotter this May when he skipped a fan event, sparking rumours he would no show the same weekend’s Double Or Nothing PPV.

His subsequent scabrous promo on Dynamite blurred the lines between work and shoot. It divided fans, but few would deny he was the hottest thing in wrestling as they went back to watch it a third or fourth time.

The news cycle moves on and other names have grabbed the headlines, but all MJF has to do is sit at home and wait. The longer he stays away, the more exciting it will be whenever and wherever he does eventually resurface.
