10 WWE Wrestlers Who Were Never The Same After Returning From Injury

4. Edge

Edge found himself on a stretcher more than once during his WWE career and much of that was merely for the sake of a storyline. The fact is that the Rated R Superstar was one of the most resilient talents in the company and despite how many high impact bumps he took or how many times he was dropped in the ring or on the floor, he always managed to get back up. This was more than a bit surprising of course, mostly due to the tag team wars he fought alongside Christian in the early 2000's. The two men battled The Hardys and The Dudleys, working main event matches all over the world and many of those bouts came under TLC rules. Edge went through tables, flew off ladders and had chairshots to the head practically every night for a year and he just kept going. Despite having neck surgery before he ascended to the top of the company as WWE champion, Edge's heart just made him keep getting back up and keep striving to be the best. However, the rigors of the business finally caught up to Edge and in 2011, he was forced to retire due to cervical spinal stenosis. The man that had pursued his love of pro wrestling from a very young age and realized his dreams in WWE, had no choice but to walk away from the sport he loved. Edge was only 36 when he hung up the boots and there is no telling just how much more he could have done had injury not prevented him from going further.
