10 WWE Wrestlers Who Were Never The Same After Returning From Injury

3. Bret Hart

Bret the Hitman Hart was one of the best technicians in the history of WWE. His style was methodical, he was even paced and he showed tremendous ring psychology. He amassed a very impressive fan following because of his old school mentality but he also impressed younger fans with his slick style and approachable personality. Bret mixed it up with some great talents in Vince McMahon's company, chief among them The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. HBK proved the be the perfect foil for The Hitman as his character was the polar opposite of Bret in every way. The two men went to war and when they did, they basically split much of the WWE crowd right down the middle. That rivalry was big business for the company and it helped to immortalize The Hitman forever. Bret was Mister WWE and as a top talent that performed for 13 years under Vince, it seemed as though he would be there for the duration of his career. However, he left in 1997 under very controversial circumstances and his career took a different path in WCW. A lot of things went wrong for Bret in WCW; bad booking, bad timing, poor storylines and silly situations, none of which would likely ever have happened in WWE. The worst thing that happened to The Hitman in Ted Turner's company was the night he worked Godlberg and not only took a stiff kick to the head but had his head slammed onto the concrete floor. It was these injuries that changed Bret's career forever and he never looked the same in the ring again. He only lasted less than a year before he was forced to walk away from the business he loved.
