10 WWE Wrestlers Who Were Never The Same After Returning From Injury
5. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio's gimmick as the best underdog in WWE history is very true to life. Standing at 5'6" and weighing in at only 175 lbs, Rey has always had an uphill battle in terms of earning respect in the industry. At first glance, he was nothing more than a cruiserweight, a basic cookie cutter Luchadore and there was a chance that was all he would ever be. However, WCW gave him a shot and he capitalized on it. In a company full of veteran talent that basically held all of the top spots, Rey was a breath of fresh air and he definitely stood out from the rest of the pack. There were a hundred masked Luchadore gimmicks in WCW but at the end of the day, Rey is likely the only one that many fans even remember. Rey's career in WWE was a different animal altogether however, as he rose up through the company far beyond his cruiserweight status. Rey became a two-time World champion and WWE champion, reaching the top of the company and forever eliminating any chance of being lost in the shuffle. The past few years have not been kind to Mysterio, however. The man once believed to be capable of conquering any height despite how far out of his reach, now does not seem able to get healthy enough to even make a comeback. Rey is by far one of the most successful, most popular Superstars in WWE history but his career may continue to deteriorate due to injuries until there is just nothing left at all.
