Fans have been conditioned to expect mixed results when their favorite stars graduate from NXT to the bright lights of Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers such as Kevin Owens, Happy Corbin, Drew McIntyre and others have had large amounts of success on the main roster, while others such as Karrion Kross, Aleister Black, and countless others have fizzled out shortly after debuting.

When Gunther arrived on the SmackDown following WrestleMania 38, the WWE Universe was cautiously optimistic about the Austrian's chances of success. While having all of the tools to be a major star, the record breaking champions name change, as well as losing two members of Imperium along the way had fans worried. However, in the four months since his debut, Gunther has been presented as every bit of the monster fans know he is.

An undefeated streak still ongoing (as well as picking up the Intercontinental Championship over Ricochet) has led to a successful first few months on the main roster for Gunther. Even though copying the success the Ring General had in NXT UK seems nearly impossible, if Vince McMahon and company continue to protect the former Walter, the sky can truly be the limit for this man, including one day winning the WWE Championship.
