10 Wrestlers Set For A Big Push Following WrestleMania 35
7. Pete Dunne
Pete Dunne is likely going to lose his United Kingdom Championship - and a considerable portion of his pectoral meat - to WALTER at NXT TakeOver: New York.
The Bruiserweight has reigned supreme with WWE's most gorgeous title belt for 675 days, at time of writing, during which he has fashioned himself as the sneering face of the middling NXT UK brand - a brand he has outgrown. In WALTER, WWE have stumbled upon his no-brainer successor. The 'Austrian Anomaly' has no designs on the main roster - and thank f*ck for that, because can you imagine Michael Cole beating that marketing to death? - and is positioned perfectly, from a practical and narrative standpoint, to assume the role as talisman.
This leaves Dunne with a clear path on which to travel. Two, in fact; a transfer to NXT proper isn't a terrible idea. Dunne is familiar (but not over-familiar) to the Full Sail crowd, and the brand - most wrestling companies, really - have drained the talent pool.
But the main roster beckons, surely; Dunne is a technical master with an ability to get over everywhere, is much-fancied by Triple H, and if there is one drawback to his great act, it's his promo game - and RAW's trial by fire is a better environment to learn in than either NXT brand's sports-oriented focus.
