10 Wrestlers That Fell Off HARD

7. Curtis Axel

Again, simply being the progeny of a wrestling icon does not mean you will make it. Curtis Axel is another fine example, as he had in-ring prowess flowing through his veins as the son of 'Mr Perfect' Curt Hennig. But that royal blood could only take him so far.

The real-life Joe Hennig was repackaged as Curtis Axel in 2013 after a dire run as Michael McGillicutty. Hennig was never an exceptional star on the mic, but he did have some impressive in-ring skills worth investing in. As such, WWE chose to pair him with someone who could do the talking for him, the iconic Paul Heyman.

As a Paul Heyman guy, Axel started to build some momentum, even scoring two victories over Triple H. Neither was a clean win, but it was still a sign of faith. He then captured the Intercontinental Championship and held it for 5-months. But, eventually, his stock plummeted.

Despite his talent and the pairing with Heyman, things just weren't working, and he was soon stuck at the bottom of the card. After being dumped by the ECW legend, he floated around in teams like RyBaxel, The Social Outcasts, and The B-Team before eventually being released from the company in 2020.

He worked as a backstage producer for three months in 2022 and has since vanished entirely from the business.
