10 Wrestlers That Got BANNED From AEW
4. Jake Hager
Now he's retired from the ring, ex-WWE star (as Jack Swagger) and AEW man Jake Hager doesn't give a toss about burning any bridges. He's going to speak his mind, for better or worse. In August, Hager went in 2-footed on All Elite boss Tony Khan for how his old overseer acted during contract negotiations back in 2022. According to Jake, it was unprofessional and left him "very jaded".
During that summertime chat with Chris Van Vliet, Jake called Tony "Daddy's little billionaire", and he reminisced about the time Khan apparently stormed into a meeting and left everyone flabbergasted. Their gasts had been flabbered. However, FTR (who were name-dropped as being there) later said this didn't happen - at least not the way Hager claims it did.
In a follow up interview with Sportskeeda, Jake also claimed that Tony ghosted Chris Jericho when the latter was trying to get solid answers out of him for where things were going creatively. Hager said that didn't sit well with him, and that it speaks to the lack of professionalism that was rife in AEW circles.
Yeah, even if Jake did come out of retirement he probs wouldn't be landing a spot on Dynamite or Collision. Just a guess! At one point during the Van Vliet interview, he rather explicitly said: "F*** Tony Khan". If that doesn't sum up his thoughts on the boss, then nothing will.
There's a fair chance that Hager will continue ranting about all things AEW and Tony if he gets the chance. Interviewers who talk to him will know now that it's a hot button issue for him personally.
