Both Randy Savage and Ric Flair received a telling off from Vince McMahon and some hefty fines for using blood during their WrestleMania VIII title match in 1992. Amazingly, despite the fact they also bladed earlier on the same card, neither Bret Hart nor Roddy Piper took a similar financial hit.

Behold the brilliance of Bret.

Piper had come to him and suggested they use blood during their IC Title bout on the midcard. Worried but trusting his friend, Hart started to think of ways he could pull this off without anybody backstage knowing it was deliberate. He and Roddy even agreed to blow up behind the curtain afterwards to sell it as an accident Bret was mad about.

Everyone at Gorilla bought it. They figured that Piper had got carried away out there and accidentally bust Hart wide open. In truth, both lads just figured their match needed some extra juice to make it worthwhile. Literally.
