10 Wrestlers That Lost Titles Due To Serious Contract Disputes

1. Chyna (WWF Women's Championship)

Chyna was strikingly over in the Attitude Era, having a presence unlike any other woman in pro wrestling before her, and being a trailblazer for talents like Beth Phoenix, Nia Jax and Raquel González.

After she held her own in the men’s division, she conquered the women’s division, defeating Ivory at WrestleMania X-Seven for the WWF Women's Championship.

No one knew when she cleanly beat Lita at Judgement Day that it would wind up being her final match for the company after contract negotiations reached a standstill. Chyna was demanding money similar to top-level stars like Steve Austin and The Undertaker in order for her to resign, which would have hugely increased her pay from 400k to $1 million per year, which Jim Ross has said “would not have been a good investment for us (WWE) to make.”

This, compounded with her falling out of favour with WWF executives after Triple H left her for Stephanie McMahon, made her leave the WWF and never return. The WWF quietly vacated the title and retired it until Survivor Series later that year.
