10 Wrestlers That The Undertaker Couldn't Get Over

1. Giant Gonzalez

Could someone not have taught Giant Gonzalez how to sell a punch before putting him in the ring?

Undertaker’s tallest opponent may have been his worst one ever. The WWF and WCW often had wrestlers jumping back and forth between the promotions, and Giant Gonzalez was one of the stranger ones to be picked up by Vince McMahon. All Gonzalez had going for him was his incredible height, but he didn’t have an ounce of athletic ability in him. If he had, he would have made it in the NBA. Or, he would have made it in WCW where he had his first run.

He was big though. You have to give him that. But even his physique wasn’t intimidating, which is why Vince chose to put him in a bizarre, nude muscle suit. It was more confusing and disturbing than scary. Gonzalez made his WWF debut in 1993 at the Royal Rumble and eliminated Taker from the match. This lead to their infamous WrestleMania showdown, which remains one of the worst in the event’s history. Taker tried to get something out of the behemoth, but he was completely unable to and apparently wasn’t too thrilled about it afterwards.

The feud trudged on right into SummerSlam. This time Taker got his big win in an eight minute Rest in Peace match. At that point even Vince realized that the two needed to get away from each other. There was a rumored Hulk Hogan/ Gonzalez match planned at one point, but luckily that never came to fruition. If Taker couldn't get the guy over as a monster, nobody could.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
